One…Last…Ad!!!!
Soon you will all vote in the most important election in all of earth’s history! An election more historic than the one where the dinosaurs voted to defund their asteroid shield! But before you do, let Thomas Peterffy, right wing billionaire, try one last goddamn time to convince you to vote Republican!! (Warning: nothing on the Internet is safe for anywhere, especially work).

Don’t forget to cast your protest votes, kids! And as long as you are in a voting mood, vote for my cartoon on Newgrounds!
I never heard of Thomas Peterffy (by the way, that spelling indicates his family had some money – it’s a noble name. The ‘y’ and double ‘ff’ are both archaic, so … not peasants) until two days ago, when I saw a story about him in the Toledo paper that Hungarian-Americans don’t care much for his ads.
But, speaking as an American-Hungarian, there’s a difference between Peterffy and your run-of-the-mill billionaire buying ad space, and that is Peterffy is not at all alone among 56’ers in his views. Hungarian Socialism really did suck, and the people who ran that kind of risk to escape it are very, very Republican in their outlook.
So unlike, say, the Koch brothers, who really don’t care what the proletariat believe as long as it allows them to get more money, Peterffy really believes what he’s telling you. Sure, he’s got a lot of money, and when he is afraid of Obama because of Socialism he’s laughably wrong, but you can’t accuse him of hypocrisy. He just legitimately believes that American conservatism is the best route forward – unfortunately, he means Eisenhower Republicanism, which he imprinted on, and he doesn’t know that Obama *is* an Eisenhower Republican, and that today’s Republicans are more like Trotsky (to whom they owe an actual intellectual debt).
Here’s a weird thing, though. My wife, who didn’t have to run any risk to escape Hungary at all, is surprisingly conservative at times – and on typical American issues, flabbergastingly liberal at others. Hungarians, and foreigners in general, don’t fall into American political categories very neatly.
In short, while Peterffy may be loathsome because his politics are misguided and he has too much money to push them, this is a case where I’ll defend to the death his right to say it.
JY: I would not defend *to the death* anyone’s right to be as willfully disingenuous– I guess that means “a fucking liar”– as Thomas Peterffy. If you watch his own ad, you will see not the legitimate concern of a patriot but the pure spin of a partisan.
So, for example, there is a snap of a group of protesters (Occupy, one assumes), carrying a banner that reads “Class Warfare”. Clearly the photo has been ‘shopped, so there’s one effort at dishonesty. Are we supposed to believe that Occupy is carrying around banners specifically rah-rah’ing for “class warfare”? No– what the banner probably said was “We Are the 99%!” This is what Peterffy fears– the overwhelming majority of the population no longer willing to take crap from billionaires whose numbers can only be measured in dollars.
America’s wealth comes from people “striving for success”, Peterffy states. But in the caes of Peterffy’s class, very much the opposite is often true. Their wealth has come from ponzi schemes, bank fraud, and gaming the political system. And rather than own up to even a drop of it, they would rather run a PR campaign putting the blame on people who are fed up enough to take to the streets over it.
The American Dream is being able to own your own home, not five or six. If Peterffy is worried about that dream disappearing, he and his ilk had better get straight about who is killing it.
He does have a right to say it, but, as you say, he’s deeply mistaken about what modern American Conservatism actually _is_. And the main problem with the system is that you are saying this on one lonely little message board in the middle of Nowheresville (no offense, Jason), while he is saying his BS in front of every fucking view on YouTube.
I’ve got news for you – guys like Peterffy will never _need_ guys like you & I to defend their rights to do _anything_.
It’s over. Go home.
I hope you enjoyed this election, Jason.
I know I have been loving all the Republican tears.
Rove’s tears made me want to rub my hands all his tear stained face then perch on his chest like a horny gargoyle and use his tears to lube my 47%er cock so that I could blast my load all over his pasty old white face while he cried.
Hey, Jason! Know the difference between a stripper crying while she gives you a lapdance and a Republican crying over a black guy being in the White House for another term?
You might feel sorry for the stripper.
Nice!
