Be on the lookout for people wanting to know how he could send the grenade back at the shooter without setting it off…it’s a comic, people, you want logic and sense, read a calculus textbook…
I’d say it’s obvious how it worked. Cal didn’t so much hit the grenade back at Wally as much as he used the hand to come in from a side angle and gently (but rapidly) \scoop\ the grenade and redirect it. The WHACK is the sound of Cal breaking the effing sound barrier moving fast enough to do so.
…and I think this pretty much catches us up to the first panel of the chapter with Chuck in hiding. Snoop is off the scene and Cancerbean’s line-drive may have distracted CAL long enough for Chuck to run. Unless, of course, we have a big Pops/CAL fight which gives Chuck his chances, but seems to me Pops isn’t in that vicinity right now.

Actually, there is a minimum arming time after you fire a 40mm grenade launcher, to stop idiots from shooting them into walls and whatnot and exploding on impact. It’s not long though, barely enough time to dive for cover:
“40×46mm types include the M381, M386, M406, and M441. The M441 can be seen as a developmental improvement over the M381, probably with an improved filler and/or fuze mechanism. The M386/M406 differed from the M381/M441 in that they had a longer arming distance (14–28 meters compared to the 2–3 meters of the M381 and M441).”
Okay, so I think I got it. broom hilda is a trog and thus isn’t alive or dead and since the wiz’s head blew up it could be safe to say he’s the walking corpse, or he’s dead for reals. WB needs his arm so its safe to say pop’s is gonna go supersaiyan (spinachsaiyan?) while Chuck gets his arm back. Can’t wait to see how hobs is gonna go down.
Haha, a reference to Tom Batuik’s hilarious gag where he had a character die in Afghanistan and then have it revealed to be a video game, and then he was baffled when military families were offended. This was around the time when he wrote the cancer story and silenced any complainers by pointing out the tragedy of (fictional) cancer, which is of course just as important as real-life cancer.
\Wait…whut? Cancerbean had the time to say “No no NO… AIEEE!†but not enough time to duck out of the way?\
I did an image search for \Wally Funky Weatherbean\ and found what \AIEEE!\ is in reference to. Jason was parodying the panel where Wally finds an IED underneath a car just before it explodes and in the panel, that’s what he yells—-\IED!\ \AIEEE!\ is parodying \IED!\
Actually, I believe Cal used the arm in such a tricky way, he actually used the hand to cup the grenade so he could then hurl it back (kind of like in jai alai) at the late Mr. Cancerbean 🙂
Hey, could anyone help me please? in the last strip some one was saying that Linus was a character in the firts weapon brown story also that Chuck killed him and Lucy.
Does some one knows how to acces or where to find that first story?? pleeeeasee.
Charlie Brown the perennial loser? Missing an arm, possibly dying from multiple injuries and pinned against a car? Still better off than Weapon Brown! But nowhere near as awesomely badass.

He’s outta there!!
Wait…whut? Cancerbean had the time to say “No no NO… AIEEE!” but not enough time to duck out of the way?
Wow, immediate closure for Wally’s fate. Might be the most clever joke in this arc.
Oh it was the cancer guy from Funky Winkerbean the whole time! Captcha diagnosed his cancer, by the way, it seems he had sets eceplati.
hahahah I saw it coming.
JY. Now that’s just evil.
Great move given how Wally was saved in Winkerbean. Hahaha. Gave Chuck time to get away, though.
We need a Calvinball joke now!

So the whole priceless line was just a red herring? Or rather a green and moldy herring now. Stinks too. Who’s up for tuna surprise?
The grenades are timed! You can pound on them all you want, as long as you do it within three seconds.

Seeing Winkerbean bite it gives me a warm smug fuzzy feeling.
Goes to show ya – if you shoot Cal, don’t tell him first. Evolution in action.
seeing a Winkerbean character DIE felt good . I came
Nice hit. That’s at least a triple. Hope 3rd didn’t crawl out to the outfeild…

Well-aimed take-that, JY. I stand impressed.

Good call, Eddiejc1. Those last 2 panels are direct from the Wnkerbean strip:

very nice, JY.
I know Calvin was good at Calvinball, but I’m pretty sure he sucked at regular baseball…

Cancerbean got handed to him.
@nanosheep: +1
LOL, wouldn’t this be funny if it (the strip) turns out to be a video game that Chuck and Cal are playing in some room hidden deep underground.
I come back expecting some fantastic conversation and the last bit of crap said was by me. Really…
At least Captcha is working through it is in a Funct Spanishe mood.
Come on JY, you steaming turd! It’s Thursday!!! After weeks of torture waiting! Push out the Fresh Brown!!!
Sqqqquuuueeezzzee out the most awesome comic strip ever (print and internet)

SQQQQQQQQQQQQQUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZEEEEEEEEEEE JY!!!
Looks like Funky Cancercancer got exactly what was coming to him…
Oh, didn’t see that coming! Haw hAW! I’ll bet that was “Dodge” that hit him too.
Charlie Brown the perennial loser? Missing an arm, possibly dying from multiple injuries and pinned against a car? Still better off than Weapon Brown! But nowhere near as awesomely badass.
Weird, I don’t remember that ending…
The secret real origin of Weapon Brown!
He’s not missing an arm, it’s right there beside him!
Oh, cool comment on the Peanuts comic too. I was thinking Justin Beiber, our own ass clown.
