Hello fans, but especially you Clarissa mailing list subscribers who endure one e-mail update after another without ever unsubscribing! (Do you know how demoralizing it is to get an e-mail with “UNSUBSCRIBE” in the header, always in all-caps?? It’s heartbreaking! Please don’t ever put me through it!)

If you have been keeping up with the videos I have been putting out since the New Year, you will know that my big 2025 plan is to wrap up everything that began in the pages of Deep Fried so long ago, in 2001. That includes Beepo and Roadkill, Weapon Brown (yep, I’ve still got plans!), and of course, Clarissa.

After several years of promises, I have begun posting stories from Clarissa’s final arc, thus paving the way for the promised Bug Wings collection. My current agenda is to keep producing Clarissa stories as regularly as I can, and then launch the Kickstarter for Bug Wings in the fall.

But there is a catch! I have hoped (and continue to hope) that I might get a publisher like Top Shelf, Oni or Fantagraphics to take interest in this project, and I do intend to pitch it to them. This will most likely require that I speak to the editors in person at shows, since unsolicited submissions just go to the graveyard. If no publisher bites, then a Kickstarter to self-publish is the only option.

However, because Clarissa is so widely known on the Internet, I have, in the past, misjudged how interested people are in actually paying for Clarissa products. Many people claim to want to see Clarissa’s tale brought to a satisfying end, and it is something I also dearly want to do. But I need to know that the investment of time will be worth it.

So, help me out! There are hundreds of people on the Clarissa mailing list, and I need a good chunk of them to comment on this post and make me believe that “Bug Wings” is something you are ready to support when the time comes. Make a believer out of me and you are going to get what you deserve!
