Oh man please, we need more Clarissa. We need a proper end to her story. Either the dad getting what he deserves, or Clarissa escaping it (even if it is by means of suicide).
(this was in response to comic you made earlier. I’d genuinely like to hear some input).
I understand what you’re trying to do. Simply put, you’re trying to critize and mock the beliefs in Islam. As a Muslim, I feel downright insulted. You’ve barely taken any time out to research Islam, but you feel that you have the credentials to mock it.
If you look at the specifics of Islam, or in fact just ask any Muslim, no one condones terrorist attacks nor any of the actions ISIS does. That’s why you don’t see 1.7 billion people blowing themselves up this second. In fact, it very much goes against the rules of Islamic warfare, that being:no building, civilians, children, or women are to be damaged or injuired. In fact, if possible avoid all possible harm to any party is what Islam teaches. Yet you have the audacity to simply look at the fringe lines, and even that’s debatable, and state that this is Islam as a whole. To do this in any other field of study would label and effectively render you as a fool amongst your peers.
Not to mention, these people who say they practice Islam are either undergoing two things:
1) their homeland is being attacked and they try to attack back.
2) they genuinely don’t follow Islam properly. Please tell me where it says to get intoxicated in Islam off of heroin? Where does it say to employ prositutes? Where does it say to kill the innocent? Where does it say to steal income that isn’t yours and cause further destruction? Yet these are all things ISIS does.
You may read this comment. You may not. But if you do, I heavily implore you to explore what Islam has to offer. How the media portrays Islam, and anything really, is often times emphasized to a bloated view for the pursuit of clicks.
JY: I don’t denounce you for defending your religion. Just know that I am spanking Islam no more harshly than I have spanked Christianity in other comics that I have drawn (I also shit on patriotism fairly regularly).
I’ve known a few Muslims, and they were all fine folks. But the people I am disrespecting in my comic are not Muslims, but the liberals who were and are too terrified to print drawings–ugly, flattering or otherwise– of Mohammed, even in solidarity with the journalists of Charlie Hebdo who died for their right to criticize the same Muslims you yourself feel free to criticize.
What those Muslims did was out of the blue: especially for Islam, and for the record, Islam does not condone this behavior. But let me explain to you the anger every Muslim felt towards Charlie Hebdo.
In Islam, we are meant to love the Prophet (SAW) even more than our own mothers, but not as a God (of course not), only as a messenger, teacher, and human. So when we see someone so beloved by us being ridiculed and mocked, the only typical response you would receive is anger. Of course allowing anger to control oneself or lashing out is something Islam highly dissuades.
And that’s the response I’m feeling right now. I feel annoyed that you think you have the right to redicule a person I love and revere. Sure people in positions of power must forfeit their protection against mockery and criticism: it’s not only natural, but most likely quintessential in order to choose what’s best for society. But critiquing the Prophet (SAW)? What do you have to gain? A barrel of laughs? Was it worth it? I don’t understand what you have to gain by making fun of peaceful man, who died over 1400 years ago and was loved, revered, and graceful in every manner of his character. He made peace between tribes. He chose to avoid wars. It’s even said that he even wouldn’t hurt a fly.
Let me get this straight with you: ridicule the people in ISIS, even Shädman has drawn fan art of them, which was quite good in my humble opinion. Ridicule the people who don’t follow Islam properly. If you feel that you must, maybe even ridicule the rules in Islam, although I would disagree with this, I would prefer this option rather than you drawing supposed art of Prophet (SAW) sitting next to Mickey having some weird smoke and existential crisis.
Btw anyone can call themselves Muslims and fly into a plane or shoot up an art studio. But that doesn’t mean they’re following Islam properly does it?
Additionally to answer your question upon those liberals who don’t like art of the Prophet, that’s because, Muslims dislike it. We don’t like any painting or depiction of him, flattering, humiliating, or otherwise.
Again spank ISIS , and if need be, although I won’t condone it , Islam I guess, but don’t the Prophet involved in this.
Mate, I understand what you’re saying and I’m glad you’re not a troll, and that you seem to have other intentions than to cause anarchy. However, you have no reason to continue doing this. You are only going to alienate a larger portion of your audience, whilst doing some other figure for Islam might have been a better choice that wouldn’t lead to such consequences. Do you realize that? You use art as a form of comedy, and as a form of comedy, the truth must be spoken and someone must be the butt of the joke.
I don’t care if Islam is, but using Mohammed? You’re hurting your own future prospects.
And don’t give me this bull crap of “I have free speechâ€. I don’t care if you critized Mohammed (SAW) in an amicable manner. All you seem to be generating is hatred.
Hatred can’t solve hatred my friend. You are doing the very opposite of your intentions; you are digging your own grave. In trying to mock the other party, you end up alienating them. No one would then want to try to understand your points if you continue this technique.
I’d like to hear your point of view of using Mohammed as a figure. You seem to have a proper agenda, and not any ulterior motives. Perhaps instead of insulting 1.7 billion people, you could get your point, maybe more easier across by using another figure? That’d be better for all parties.
Mate, shut up with all that bias, how about you translate some of the verses you are not mentioning, the ones that demand violence and taking others as sex slaves and about women having half a brain, and said verse to keep women enslaved. All you want is attention, well you ain’t getting it.
Bazooka !

Just don’t let us hanging here.
