Aw, jeez, this reminds me a lot of my parents, who weren’t sexually but often violently physically abusive. It’s good to see an accurate portrayal of how they communicate.
Dude, as someone who has dealt with the same bullshit as a child (yes….the SAME bullshit) this hits home VERY accurately. People complain as to why kids don’t speak up about their abuse, but never realize that this happens. Victim guilt is a REAL thing and abusers will go out of their way to manipulate them in order to keep their actions secret. Even to go as far as to get angry with the child for not “acting normal” even though OBVIOUSLY a child fucked up in the head is not just going to smile and be kind to the people that hurt them. So please, next time you want to get mad at someone for waiting ten or more years to speak up, think about this and how difficult it is for them to admit that it happened and that it wasn’t their fault.
I think the scariest thing about this whole series is how in some panels, the father doesn’t look that bad, but in others he looks downright demonic. It shows how abusers can almost effortlessly switch between these two personas.
He’s try to guilt trip her.
