As always, not only is the artwork on point, but the dialogue just gets better and better….The slow, agonizing burn this story is going to go on for the next month is going to drive me to drink, but happily
This is a great comic. I just discovered it, and I would like to thank Mr. Yungbluth for ruining my fond memories of waking up every morning and reading Charlie Brown’s latest adventures in the funnies.
I hope we see CAL-V.1N soon. He seems pretty badass, but I hope he doesn’t get killed off. Calvin’s awsome. Screw Chuck.

Ah, good. This strip clears up 3 outstanding issues I was hoping to see resolved:
– Snoop is going to pull through, and perhaps they’ll “make him better” in the process
– Chuck is still mad at Hugh for shooting his dog, and won’t let him forget that
– Chuck murdered the innocent Mutt and Jeff, and Anne won’t let him forget THAT
The only unresolved plot point now is Mr. Beazley complaining of the loss of three months of valuable scat. Wonder how Chuck will make THAT up to him…
I wont deny that Chuck is badass, but I really wouldn’t mind seeing him dead. He’s kind of a real jerk. Poor Mutt Jeff and Buxley, they didn’t deserved that at all.
And X is an idiot for fixing Brown’s arm. I would have tried to shoot Snoop. Annie ought to downrank him, but I don’t think she can afford that given the low man power she already has.
@Theo
Hughie calculated that the moment when the odds were in his favor would still come, which it did. But as we all know, Chuck’s a man who gets his way.
For a blind girl, Annie sure sees a lot. And delivers kick-ass dialogue.
(I’m still impressed that JY still puts so much detail into each character model… and keeps it consistent. Jawline aside, I have yet to see a shot of Annie without those little dangling chain links from her shoulder pads.)
And I don’t even remember where that Peanuts panel even came from.
@JY
Aint’t buying it. He should have tried. Dude’s trying to act all badass but Snoop made him his bitch whitout a sweat (All the sweating was for him). He’s a sensible guy in a very very harsh world. But I’m not saying he’s not trying, I’m just saying that he’s failing. That or it’s only a slightly lazy way to put Chuck back in business. But with all the awesomeness you’re bringing, you fucking deserve some (like alot) slack for the writing. Also, Chuck being chained until they fucking decide what to do with him would have been boring. But yeah, it make X look like bitch.
His idea of “threatning” is “barking meaningless threats” at a guy who could kill everything in the facility. He remind me of Cyclop a bit in the whiny bitch perspective… and… oh God!!! Chuck remind me also of Wolverine yellow garb and everything… and they are fighting to get into the pants of a RED HEADED TELEPATHIC HOTTIE WHO IS ALSO DISABLED AND MASTER STRATEGIST (Combining bot marvel girl and prof Xavier)!!!!!
Bit of a weird perspective on Annie leaving the room in that last panel. It looks like her hips are square to the viewer, but that’s the wrong angle for going through the door, and she’d be all torqued to get her upper torso around like that. Maybe its because she’s blind…
I’ve been reading this for awhile now and although I don’t get all of the pop references (being from Australia) the artwork (Thanks Jason) is the best and the story is so addictive call me a shmooo head
Love Rex Morgan’s design. Also dig the slow, simmering angst we’ve got here. People oftentimes either lay it on too thick, or not enough, and it comes off as overbearing/flimsy. Just the right amount here. Props, JY, props.
@Theo: Second guessing writers’ decisions has been around as long as fiction has existed, but we critics rarely agree. I for one have no problem with Hugh fixing Brown’s arm– it wasn’t a sign of weakness, it was a calculated risk, a way to play for time. It almost worked.
The part I find implausible is that Annie would subject him to torture by Deathtongue while she was proposing to invite him into the commune. Still it made for a great scene.
@Bob: Hugh? Despicable? Both here and in Boondocks? I’m going to regret asking, but how so?
@Shedboy9 : know that they are not pop references, but they’re strictly references to Sunday comics (i.e. not Marvel, not D.C., etc. – only Sunday comic strips) ranging from teh 1950’s to present day. All characters we see have been in other comic strips, and it is incredibly awesome. With that in mind…
@Richard: I developed a mental blind spot for Boondocks over ten years ago, so it’s possible he’s changed since I last saw it, but at the time I was still reading it he consistently came off as a smug little racist bigot. At least here he doesn’t seem to be racist, and not quite as smug… actually, if he stops pretending to be even a quarter as bad-ass as Chuck he might even grow on me.

ah, time to soak that finger.
JY, I adore you.
Captcha: What Anne is: Toughs flame
XD Damn, Anne got them good
Man, if they get Brown on their side, the Syndicate might as well go for bankruptcy right now

I’m a little creeped out that you made rex morgan look…. cute. I really enjoy his short stumpy tail!
I’m pretty sure I am just going crazy from too much Weapon Brown, so i won’t worry about it.
Aw man my previous post didn’t show up. As always your art work is awesome!
and yes I was refreshing every 12 seconds for todays update.

that rex morgan surely it’s much more fun than the real queer rex morgan.
I’m excited to find out exactly why rex morgan is crossed with a dinosaur.
Captcha’s a fill in the blank:unclasps the

It’s not like Chuck arrived in Annie’s land of his own free will.
@Jor
ROFL! ROFL I say!

I’m wondering if Anne already has something going with Rex; it would certainly give her an opportunity to talk about leaping lizards. 😀

Captcha goes to AA: drunkard program.
I’m assuming that last panel pose was to give us all a shot of little Annie’s fanny. For which we are appropriately thankful.
I do rather hope Chuck winds up offing Hugh, whom I find almost as despicable here as his inspiration is in the original.
Thants to all how mentioned Annes “fanny”. I was so interested in the actual conversation that I failed to see that simmering bubble of perfection.

Little Annie Fanny.

Anne: “You put two of my men in the morgue. That’s two more you’re going to have to be worth.”
Take it from us Blockheads, lady, he’s worth 10 men (or 15 Hueys LOL) easy…
is it too early to hit F5?

@Bob
Boondocks the strip, or Boondocks the show?
the torment
The strip. I’ve never seen the show. From what I’ve heard I’d probably like it better.
It took me a minute. “Rex” Morgan. Wow, man. Just wow.
The Snoop NDE dream is a thing of beauty.
All I can say is I’d much rather look at Annie’s fanny than Dagwood’s bum.
JY: BOOM!
