This strip will go down, I’m sure, as one of the most emotionally satisfying ones of Blockhead’s War. It encompasses everything I’ve hoped for. And it’s not the left hook from hell finally landing that is most satisfying. It’s not even the fact that Cal finally knows fear, with those tiny, shrunken, oh-shit pupils. It’s the hell in Browns face, that grit set of teeth, that CONTRAST that just makes him look like he could eat the Garf and shit -it- out.
Could be simply because he’s been on my mind lately but CAL’s blank expression in panel 1 seems reminiscent of the work of the great, recently departed, much lamented Moebius.
